Aqua Alta
I saw a picture in National Geographic today that pulled me in to reading more about it.
Occasionally, mainly during winter, high tide water will cause downtown Venice to be under a few feet of water. The locals just put on their rubber boots, drag out wooden walkways, and say hello to Aqua Alta.
After all these years, the Italians have just learned how to deal with it. Nessun affare grande. No biggie. I'm quite impressed.

Hints.. want to get me a subscription to National Geographic for my birthday or Christmas.. Just teasing but I got hooked on that magazine when I was 11.

In Miami, poor flood control always meant you get to drag out the rubber rafts and jet skis.. :) yay rain.
Too bad it smells like an unflushed toilet...that has been used.

So I've heard.
Venice is a tad stanky. I dunno if it smells like ya'lls toilet, but centuries of sitting in the sea can't be good for one's complexion.
